Furan resin is used to harden the sand mold. The parts produced with this procedure are generally from 50 kg up to several tons in weight. Suitable for large casting. Furan resin has the advantage of high sand mold compressive strength, good surface finishing and can be very suitable for medium to large casting.

 

However due to the use of resin, the sand molding cost of furan resin sand casting is higher than green sand casting. The production rate of furan resing sand casting is also slower than of green sand casting. Thus furan resin is not suitable for the production of small parts.
